Stillness at KYN
A quieter way to experience the Norwegian coast — where the changing light, the fjord and an unhurried day are reason enough to stay.
Stay a little longer.
A trip to Western Norway does not have to be a race between viewpoints. At KYN by the Sea in Stavang, Sunnfjord, four private seaside cabins offer a base for days with as much — or as little — planned as you wish.
Begin with coffee beside the water. Prepare breakfast in your own fully equipped kitchen. Take a walk when the weather invites you out, then return to watch the light change across the fjord.
The coast is a lived-in place, with boats, weather and daily activity. What we invite you to find is room for a slower pace, not a promise of absolute silence.

There is no single way to see the fjord.
Some days bring a bright reflection on the water; others bring cloud, wind and soft grey horizons. The changing conditions are part of the character of this western coast.
Take photographs, read by the window or head outdoors for a coastal walk. If you want a different perspective, explore our sea and fjord experiences and coastal walking ideas. Check local conditions and access before setting out.
The light and viewpoints vary with weather, season and cabin. No particular sunset view is guaranteed from every accommodation.

Not everything worth seeing is far away.
A quiet day creates room to notice smaller things: patterns in weathered rock, lichen on the shore and ripples moving with the breeze.
Stay close to the water, follow local access guidance and choose your own pace. At KYN, an unplanned afternoon can be part of the holiday.
“Sometimes the experience is simply staying.”
When the sky becomes part of the stay.
Sometimes the clouds open just before the light fades; sometimes the whole horizon turns copper. The islands become silhouettes, and the water holds the last colours of the day.
Each season brings a different rhythm. Spend the evening outside when conditions allow, or enjoy the view from the warmth of your sea house. The light is never a scheduled performance — and that is part of the experience.
Weather, daylight and viewpoints vary with the season and the sea house. No particular sunset is guaranteed.

Choose a sea house.
Schot accommodates up to six guests; Grandpa John's and Eldur up to four each; Vár up to three. Explore each house for its features, current prices and route to availability.
